The wooden church was built in 1675. Its founders were the village leader Jakub Kesz and the miller Mikołaj. It was expanded in the 19th century.

The temple is a typical example of Podhale sacral architecture called ‘Spis Rococo’, with lots of richly decorated figures of saints and angels. The timber-framed walls are covered entirely with shingles, decoratively cut in herringbone.

The atmospheric wooden interior in the Rococo style contains several noteworthy works of sacred art. It is primarily a polychrome rich in floral and geometric motifs, dating from 1813 and repainted in the inter-war period by Kazimierz Piętka. On the altar in the central area is a statue of Our Lady of the Rosary and statues of Saints Peter and Paul. Attention is also drawn to the richly decorated Baroque pulpit and the Rococo confessional. Another interesting sculpture is, placed above the choir, the figure of the 'Jurgau Devil' defeated by Michael the Archangel.  It is one of the very few images of the devil in churches. A legend associated with it says that women and children are not allowed to look at it.

The brick sacristy and chapel are the result of a 20th-century extension. The elongated building has a shingle roof, and all the walls of the church, including the brickwork, are covered with shingles.  Unlike the structures described earlier, this church does not have a tower and the free-standing belfry, dating from the 19th century, has a different character from the church.

The church is located on the Wooden Architecture Route(Link to the description of the Church of St Sebastian and Our Lady of the Rosary Jurgów)
