The Night of the Museums is held in spring, usually around mid-May. Each year, the programme of events and the list of participating entities change, but usually, it brings together dozens of institutions. The programme features both permanent and temporary exhibitions. What makes the night unique is the free admission to the events, or a symbolic fee of 1 or 2 PLN. Each institution is responsible for shaping its own admission policies – we recommend checking the relevant information ahead of the time HERE. Most of the venues are open from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Many of them invite visitors during the day or extend their opening hours due to enormous interest.

Museums and other venues that have been open before during the Night of the Museums in Kraków include:

• The Archaeological Museum with its exhibitions, including the Gods of Ancient Egypt, Prehistory and the Early Middle Ages in Małopolska and The History of the Archaeological Museum Building in Kraków.
• Seweryn Udziela Ethnographic Museum in Kraków and its current exhibitions.
• Polish Aviation Museum with its latest exhibition, entitled Wings and People of the 20th Century, and the entire permanent exhibition located outside, as well as in the hangars.
• Jan Matejko House Museum, or the family home of the most outstanding painter representing Polish Historicism.
• Museum of Kraków, the Oskar Schindler Enamel Factory Branch with its permanent exhibition entitled Kraków - the time of the occupation 1939-1945.
• Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology promoting the art, culture and technology of the Far East, as well as European art of the 20th and 21st centuries inspired by Japanese culture and art.
• MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art – home to works of art from the last two decades, a perfect place for fans looking for a deeper sense and meaning in the works.
• Botanical Garden of the Jagiellonian University with 10 hectares of beautiful garden with plants from all over the world.
• Feliks JasieńskiSzołayski Family Townhouse.
• Museum of Urban Engineering showcasing the history of technology, industry, public transit and urban engineering in Kraków.
• Stanisław Lem Garden of Experiments found outdoors, a place that teaches through play; highly recommended for visitors of all ages who want to make discoveries about the world.
• Józef Czapski Pavilion with a permanent exhibition devoted to his life and work,

and many more.

In addition to temporary and permanent exhibitions, visitors can expect lectures presented by experts in their respective fields, guided tours, workshops and demonstrations. Some museums prepare special discounts on products available in their stores. The number of museums and the richness of their exhibitions attract crowds of people every year, and the variety of Kraków’s museums allows them to choose from among a vast offering.
