Trasa 5

Another fairly easy route, leading largely through forests. The trip begins at the church of Sts Peter and Paul in Trzebinia. Right on the opposite side of the street stands the 18th century Zieleniewski Manor House. We take the blue bike trail to bypass the palace park from the north (Jasna Street, then Słoneczna Street). Then we follow the red trail around the Balaton Reservoir famous for its recreational facilities. Following the streets: Stanisława, 22 Lipca, and Grunwaldzka we reach Siersza. Here, at the intersection, we turn right to Kopalniana Street and follow it to get straight to Czyżówka. We turn left and, by the chapel, we turn left again following the red bike trail. We cycle along the Siersza power plant. When the trail turns left into the forest, we continue along the main road towards Podlesie. At the intersection, we turn left. After about 1300 m, we turn right to get onto the blue bike trail. We then cycle about 4 km through a beautiful beech forest to the intersection of forest roads. We leave the blue trail and go straight ahead, along the black trail. At the next intersection with the junction of trails, we turn right to follow the red bike trail. Cycling on dirt paths, we reach the asphalt road in Płoki. We cross the village following the main road, passing by the sanctuary of Our Lady of Płoki. After the church we turn left (uphill), staying on the red bike trail. We cross the road No 791, then pass Psary and, after a demanding climb, we get to the hill offering a nice view. We then descend to Dulowa. Here we leave the trail, turning right. We cross the intersection, heading towards Młoszowa, where it is worth visiting the palace and park complex. We return to Trzebinia along the black trail, turning slightly higher to the left onto a side street.

ATTRACTIONS ON THE ROUTE:

1. Zieleniewski family Manor – built in the 18th century, an excellent example of a Polish manor house. The building has a characteristic classicistic portico and a typical Polish mansard roof. Currently, it houses a cultural institution that organizes concerts, exhibitions and meetings with interesting people.
2. Balaton Reservoir – a bathing place and a very popular summer destination for residents of Trzebinia and the surrounding area. It is located in a closed quarry and is characterized by crystal clear water.
3. Sanctuary of Our Lady of Płoki, Patroness of Polish Workers' Families – connected with the cult of the picture painted on linden boards in the second half of 15th century. The first mention of Płoki as a pilgrimage centre dates back to the mid-17th century. Next to the church, there is the grave of fr. Michał Rapacz, the local priest, brutally murdered on 12 May 12 1946. Currently, Płoki is becoming a sanctuary of supra-regional importance.
4. Palace in Młoszowa – a neo-Gothic building located within a large park with an old tree stand. The site is surrounded by a wall with tower and bastion. Currently it is the property of the University of Economics in Katowice.
