What could be more Kraków-like than the painter and poet Stanisław Wyspiański and his 'The Wedding' (Wesele), a work that has astonished successive generations with its wisdom, touching on important national issues with passion but also with detached humour?
It is at 'Wesele', a restaurant overlooking the Market Square, where you can eat dishes steeped in tradition.

The Wesele Restaurant is located on Kraków’s Main Market Square, the city's most important tourist spot, near St Mary's Basilica, the Cloth Hall and the Museum in the Market Square Underground, near the Royal Route leading to the Wawel Royal Castle. It provides a very convenient meeting point and a place for lunch or dinner during a visit to Kraków.
The restaurant's décor draws on the traditions of Krakow's wedding ceremonies: wreaths of flowers, straw men, traditional bedsteads, lace with red bows, strings of red beads, and the obligatory motif of peacock feathers. On the first floor, original 14th-century wooden ceilings were painted in floral motifs and beautiful fragments of historic frescoes were recently discovered. Plus, diners can enjoy the view of Kraków Market Square. The restaurant and its traditional but sophisticated cuisine has made it into the prestigious Michelin Guide several times.
