Góra Świętego Marcina Tarnów

Mt Świętego Marcina Tarnów

Obiekt przyrodniczy

33-110 Tarnów Tourist region: Tarnów i okolice

The peak is located southeast of the centre of Tarnów, 384 metres above sea level. It owes its name to the Church of St Martin in the village of Zawada, the oldest church in Tarnow and the surrounding area.

At the top of Mt Świętego Marcina, commonly known as Martinka, are the ruins of a medieval castle. Today, only the outlines of the foundations are visible. A little more can be seen if you make your descent on the eastern slope, but still, not a whole lot is visible. There is not much left of the impressive facility. Today, we can only imagine how the castle once towered over the surrounding area. From the north side of the mountain, you can also admire the beautiful panorama of Tarnów and, from the south, the Cieżkowice Foothills. Today, Mt Świętego Marcina is a recreational facility for the inhabitants of Tarnów. It is ideal for longer walks and picnics. The forest has a network of walking and bicycling paths, a children's playground, and a swimming pool and outdoor gym below the edge of the forest. The Marcinek Running Park is also worth a visit.
