In 2020, in the competition Tourist Treasures of Małopolska VeloDunajec was recognized as the "Most Interesting Tourist Route". Now the route has received a distinction from the jury appointed by the president of the Polish Tourist Organization, which includes outstanding experts in the field of tourism and marketing.
VeloDunajec is one of the 8 bicycle routes built as part of the VeloMałopolska project. The route starts in Zakopane and ends in Wietrzychowice, where it joins the Vistula Cycling Route. Almost 80% of the 237 km is already passable. Detour suggestions have been prepared for missing parts.
Great infrastructure and excellent views
The popularity of the route among cyclists was determined not only by the excellent infrastructure. The VeloDunajec route is a great opportunity to get to know the most beautiful places in Lesser Poland. Wonderful views of the Tatras or the Pieniny Mountains, historic wooden architecture, noble mansions and mysterious castles - all this awaits cyclists traveling along the route.
Easy access
In the south, VeloDunajec connects with the Route Around the Tatras, from Stary Sącz to Ostrów it has a common course with VeloNatura/EuroVelo11 and in the north it meets the Vistula Bicycle Route. The route runs through major cities in the region: Zakopane, Nowy Targ, Stary and Nowy Sącz or Tarnów - so it is also easy to get here by train.
